NYBG Garden Planner for 2026
Thursday, 11 December 2025
Needled evergreens are green but basically, trees are bare. Three weeks, and the year is done. At least then we will tip beyond the shortest day / longest night and there will be scarcely, slowly noticeable increasing light. What's needed is a planner wherein you may, say what? yes, plan. Here's a suggestion for a pleasant desk calendar planner that is just right for gardeners.
It is the New York Botanical Garden's Planner for 2026.
.
Charming illustrations such as this page of citrus fruits, paired - of course - with a week's worth of days.
A column for notes. And the illustration has an explanation of why the citrus used to be classed with apples.
Beautiful reproductions of rare and little-seen botanical illustrations from the LuEsther T. Mertz Library.
With the NYBG library from which to draw (yes, I know. Pun.) there are suitable illustration through the year.
January has a bouquet of Narcissus poeticus, paperwhite narcissus that we might have coaxed into early bloom.
All told, botanical illustrations highlight 12 of Garden's distinct collections, with captions providing information.
The year turns to summer, and June has a painting of lupins in a rainbow of colors. A suggestion: daily,
in the notes column, write down weather-sunny or cloudy or wet. Then you can compare day to day changes.
Rather than writing birthdays and occasions on their specific dates (turn to a new week and
oops! today is an event!) you can quickly review each month in advance. And be prepared!
Extra pages at the back for jotting notes. Weekly spreads with plenty of room to write. Practical wire-o binding and a closed size of 6.5 inches x 9 inches fits book bags, totes, and backpacks, Or your desk. Enjoy the 45 illustrations as you plan your 2026 year.
